Approval Chains that match how you actually work

An Approval Chain is an ordered list of roles, held per Request type. There are four Request types — day-off, vacation, remote work, late arrival — and one chain each, so vacation can need two approvals while a late arrival needs none. A new Workspace starts with Lead then HR Contact on all four, and you change any of them from there.

The roles resolve per Employee when the Request runs, not when the chain is written. The lead step becomes that Employee's Lead; the HR step becomes their HR Contact — the HR person responsible for them specifically, which starts out as your first HR Head and can be reassigned per Employee or per department.

An Employee with no Lead skips that step instead of stalling in it. A chain with no steps at all means the Request is approved as soon as it is submitted.

Only the resolved approver for the current step, or an HR Head, may approve or deny. Each advance is claimed atomically, so a double-tapped Slack button or a redelivered click acts at most once: no duplicate cards, no balance decremented twice.
